Orphanage Industrial Training Centre, Kanhangad (OITC) is situated in the same compound of Kanhangad Muslim Orphanage and was established in the year 1991.

AIM

To train the orphans (inmates) for job oriented self employment courses at free of cost.

The objectives of the centre are to train the large and growing youth population of this region  of Kasargod district for self employment in various fields like  Electronics, Dress Making, Computers, mould them as skilled workers suitable to the industries and make them fit to the development work of our nation.

ELECTRONIC MECHANIC

CUTTING & TAILORING

(APPROVED BY NCVT, GOVT.OF INDIA)

A well established workshop for Electronics provided with modern electronic equipments like

  • Digital Meter

  • Temperature Control

  • Soldering Irons

  • Desolders

  • CRO

  • Frequency Counters

  • AM/FM Modulators

  • Audio and Video equipments etc.

 

Cutting & Tailoring Trades : Each trainee has been provided with

  • Sewing Machine

  • Zig Zag

  • Over Lap

  • Embroidery



The syllabus includes stitching of cloth, 3 head theories, design, Cutting and Fashion Making.

In Computer Division, spacious Air-Conditioned 200 Sq.mts lab  equipped with about 30 PCs of latest configurations.

In one lab, systems are connected with Novell Netware and in another lab, systems are connected with Windows NT.


LIBRARY AND READING ROOM

Our Library has wide range of books in Computers, Electronics,  Literature in Malayalam, Arabic and Periodicals like EFY ( Electronics For You), Computer and Internet, CSI ( Computer Society of India) monthly, Employment news apart from daily news papers.



COMPUTERS

In the year 2000 OITC entered in the new era of computer training while converting the training centre as an authorized Training Centre of CEDTI (Centre for Electronics Design and Technology of India). In the year 2003 the CEDTI has merged with DOEACC. Govt. of India and allowed the scheme to continue up to Feb. 2006. There after this scheme has been withdrawn through out India. In the year 2006 converted the Orphanage ITC as an Authorized Computer Education and Training Centers (ACETC) of C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing – a scientific society of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India). Authorized Computer Education and Training Centers (ACETC) is the franchise unit of STDC, chosen for he effective planning, marketing and efficient of the C-DAC(formerly ER&DCI) courses and schemes. Quality training shall be offered with the constant technical and supervisory support from C-DAC.

Course Overview: The courses are designed to impart necessary knowledge and experience in designing and developing application software around Popular Personal Computer.

Course Delivery: The courses aim at imparting knowledge through a balanced Theoretical and practical orientation. Software development skills are given stress through the program.

Monitoring evaluation examination and certification systems
There will be an exam for each course mid-way during the course/semester. The question paper will be approved by the C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram. The examinations are conducted and evaluated and certificates are issued by C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram.

Future Plans
            In near future, we are introducing Skill Certification Scheme of DOEACC     (Calicut) under the title of “quality certification at affordable cost”.
            The DOEACC centre Calicut, are the pioneers in Non-Formal education sector is introducing a Suite Certification with national standards,
         reliability, validity and fitness for purpose, and which are recognized in industry by employers, employees and candidates in different areas of IECT.
